Men's Soccer Moves To 6-2 In League Play With 1-0 Win Over Mercy

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Senior Isaiah Kossine's 59th minute tally proved to be the difference as the Queens College men's soccer team moved to 6-2-0 in league play with a 1-0 victory over Mercy Saturday afternoon.

At 6-2-0, the Knights sit in second place in the ECC standings, behind 7-0 LIU Post, with two regular season games remaining.

In the opening 45 minutes, the two teams combined for six shots, including four by Queens.  The Knights forced Mercy goalkeeper Kwantarian Van der Lara into three first half saves, while QC starter Robbie Webster made one stop in the first half, and two overall in the contest.

The Knights broke through in the second stanza when Kossine put in the rebound off an initial shot by junior Nicholas Matusewicz.  For Kossine, it marked his second tally of the season.

Overall, Queens outshot the Mavericks 12-4 in the game, and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Knights are back in action Wednesday afternoon, when they welcome UDC to QC Soccer Field for a 3:30 pm tilt.
