Box Score PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The Queens College women's soccer team fell to Holy Family 3-2 in double overtime Thursday afternoon.
Queens opened the scoring when sophomore Erin Vernillo connected on her fifth goal of the season in the 22nd minute. She managed to drive up the field and score on a break-way with a shot from just outside the box.
Holy Family evened the scoreboard in the 35th minute when Brianna Rock scored her third goal of the season. The Tigers jumped ahead in the 59th minute when Lisa Abramski received a cross-pass and fired a shot from about 20-yards out to convert for the score.
The Knights tied the game at two in the 76th minute when Karysaa Pikoulas scored a goal to force overtime.
Jenna Richards scored the game-winning goal with 54 seconds remaining. Richards managed to get off a shot after a scramble for the loose ball in front of the net.
QC held a 20-15 advantage in shots, while Holy Family had a 9-8 margin in corner kicks. Knights netminder Kimberly Chacko made three saves, while Kacie Booth registered five stops for the Tigers.
QC is back in action Tuesday afternoon, when it welcomes New Haven to campus for a 3:30 pm start.
