Box Score QUEENS, N.Y. - The Queens College women's soccer team played CACC opponent Georgian Court to a 1-1 draw Thursday afternoon at QC Soccer Field. The Knights, who played LIU Post to a 1-1 stalemate in their last matched, halted the Lions' seven game winning streak with the tie.
The Knights scored first with 1:26 remaining in the first half when sophomore Megan DeRosa lofted a pass from senior Nicolette Scrozzo just inside the top right corner of the Lions' net to give QC a 1-0 advantage.
In the second half, GCU capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity following a Knights handball in the box. Lions senior Tori Capestro converted on the attempt to even the score in the 79th minute.
In her first start of the season, junior Kimberly Chacko made six saves, including one during the overtime period. Casey O'Connor secured four saves in the Georgian Court net.
The Lions outshot the Knights, 14-9, but Queens owned a 3-2 advantage in the 20 minutes of overtime.
The Knights are back in action Saturday afternoon at St. Thomas Aquinas at 12:00 pm.
