Mersina Onesto Makes Eight Saves in 2-0 Loss to LIU Post

Brookville, N.Y. - The Queens College women's soccer team fell to LIU Post, 2-0, in an East Coast Conference game played in Brookville, New York on Sunday.  The game was postponed 24 hours due to inclement weather.

Mersina Onesto was the standout player for the Knights, turning aside eights shots in the defeat.  The eight saves was her second best output of the season; after she stopped nine attempts in a scorless tie with Felician earlier in the year.

Onesto wasn't tested until the 37th minute, when she stopped two straight attempts  The game was scoreless at the half.

The Pioneers scored twice in the second 45 minuntes, both markers came off the foot of Lauren Bellone.  Onesto played well in the second half as well.  The Rockville Centre, New York product turned aside six more shots including a penalty kick.

The Queens College women's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, October 8, when they host Holy Family at 4:00 PM.
