Women's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Tie with Georgian Court

Lakewood, N.J. - The Queens College women's soccer team posted its second-straight clean sheet, playing to a scoreless tie with Georgian Court in a game played in Lakewood, New Jersey on Tuesday.  Mersina Onesto made six saves for the Knights.

Queens managed just two shots on goal in the first half of play, both coming off the foot of Nicolette Scrozzo.  Both the attempts were saved by the Lions' keeper. Onesto was forced to make just one save in the first half, that one coming via a shot at the 1:20 mark.

Courtney Locurcio came forward just before the hour mark and took a shot on goal that was stopped by the Georgian Court keeper.  Onesto made a pair of saves just past the hour mark to keep the game scoreless.  Finally, with 0:12 left in regualtion the Lions had a shot that hit the crossbar and deflected into safety.  The game ended regulation scoreless.

The first overtime nearly saw the Knights pickup the win, as Erin Vernillo's shot in the 99th minute was turned aside by the goalie.  Onesto made two more saves in the second overtime and the game ended in a scoreless draw.

The Queens College women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, October 25, when they face Dowling at noon.
