Box Score Flushing, N.Y. - The Knights men's soccer team
battled with the Dowling Golden Lions for an extra 20 minutes on
Saturday afternoon, only to remain scoreless after 110
minutes. The tie with Dowling was the second for Queens
(9-3-3; 4-2-2 in ECC) and third for Dowling (9-3-3; 4-2-3 in
ECC).
While battling windy conditions the majority of the afternoon,
QC managed three quality shots on goal against Chris Friedl. In the
first half, Pol Narbona headed a ball that was turned aside by
Friedl. The second half saw senior Peter Touros record a shot on
goal in the 70th minute. In the 105th minute
(2nd overtime) Glen Reid had the Knights third shot on
goal defended by Friedl.
Defensively, the Knights were able to withstand Dowling's
pressure throughout the match. That, coupled with a major
shot off the post in the latter stages of the match helped preserve
a tie for the Knights. In goal, Sean Geoghegan countered his
counterpart with a three-save game. In the first overtime, seconds
apart from each other, Geoghegan made back-to-back saves against
Dowling.
The Knights continue this pivotal stretch of East Coast
Conference matches with a contest against the University of
Bridgeport Purple Knights on Tuesday, October 29th at
3:30 PM on the campus of Queens College.
