The Knights opened up the season with a 2-0 win against St.
Anselm. After a scoreless first half, the deadlock finally
broke midway thru the 2nd when Lorena Russi sent the ball to Sarah
Boucher who sailed a strong right-footed shot into the top right
corner of the goal to put QC ahead. Russi followed with a goal of
her own, assisted by Boucher to secure the 2-0 win for the
Knights.
QC continued strong play on Sunday, as they took on NE-10
opponent, Pace. Despite dominating the game for long periods
and creating numerous opportunities in both halves, the Knights
were held to a tie. Russi and Boucher were again instrumental
in controlling the game early-on and creating several good scoring
chances, finally finding the net near the end of the 1st. The
Knights came close to securing the victory with just over 3 minutes
remaining in the 2nd OT when Russi played in Janine Guerra with
just the keeper to beat, but her goal-bound shot was saved and the
game ended in a disappointing tie.
The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, September 5 at
4pm when they take on Merrimack at home.
