Knights Women's Soccer Ends in Scoreless Draw Against Franklin Pierce

Flushing, N.Y. (October 7, 2012) – The Knights women's soccer team tied with Franklin Pierce after 2 overtime periods at 0-0 to go to 7-2-3 overall (remains at 2-1-1 in Conference play).

In a rainy affair against Franklin Pierce, the Knights played into two overtimes and the contest concluded with a scoreless draw. The Knights had multiple scoring chances throughout the match, including freshman Gena Koutsounadis (#23) having a shot blocked in front of the Franklin Pierce keeper in the 2nd half. They came close in the OT periods as well, with senior Janine Guerra (#4) putting it on net in the 1st OT and junior Kristina Ikonomou (#10) recording a shot on goal in the 2nd OT.  The Knights outshot Franklin Pierce 7-6.

In goal, Knights senior Alli Breakey saved the 2 shots that went her way, while Franklin Pierce goalie Katie Weldon saved all 4 shots on goal.

The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, October 9th when they visit Felician College at 4 PM.
