Flushing, N.Y. (October 6, 2012) – The Knights men's
soccer team came from behind to tie the University of the District
of Columbia Firebirds 3-3. With the tie, the Knights go to 7-2-3
overall and 3-1-1 against ECC teams.
It was a physical game throughout with the Knights receiving a
season-high 9 yellow cards from head referee Albert Calise. After
UDC went into the half up 1-0, Knights transfer Alexander
Schweitzer (#18) netted his 2nd goal of the year to tie
things up 5 minutes into the 2nd half. UDC went up 3-1,
scoring in the 56th and 65th minute of the
game. The Knights answered with 2 goals by junior Tyler Iocco (#11)
within 2 minutes of each other in the 74th and
75th minute.
After 2 halves, the game was knotted at 3. The Knights mustered
just one shot in the 2 OT periods, while UDC's 2 shots which
were denied by Knights freshman Stillanos Fotinos (#31) who took
over for junior Sean Geoghegan (#1) who was taken out after
allowing a season-high three goals.
The Knights will visit the Dominican College Chargers on Monday,
October 8th in Orangeburg, New York at 4 PM.
