Flushing, N.Y. (October 27, 2012) – Looking for three
points to make it to the East Coast Conference playoffs on Senior
Day, the Knights men's soccer team tied 1-1 with the Bears to
go to 7-6-4 (3-3-3 in ECC play) on the year.
It was a scoreless affair through 88 minutes of the contest.
With 88:29 gone by in the match, senior and Knights captain Danny
Stoker (#23) netted the first goal of the game, his 11th goal of
the year. Yet, the day was not over yet as NYIT's Dominic
Iovino scored the gut-wrenching game-tying goal with just 19
seconds left in the game.
This led to 2 overtime periods where NYIT had three shots and
were denied by Knights keeper Sean Geoghan twice in the second
overtime. The Knights could not muster any shots during the extra
time.
Prior to the game, the Knights honored seniors Danny Stoker and
Grant Edick during the Senior Day festivities.
