MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Queens College men's soccer team lost for the first time on the 2011 season Saturday night at Larkin Field, as the Knights (1-1) were downed by host No. 16 Southern New Hampshire, 3-0.
The Penmen, playing in their season opener, got on the board in the 10th minute when Chris Tsonis buried a penalty kick. Mohamed Toufik then netted a pair of goals in the 27th and 50th minutes, respectively, to account for the final score.
SNHU outshot QC by a 12-7 count (8-3 in first half), while both sides took four corner kicks apiece. Knights senior keeper Demetrios Touros (Bellerose, N.Y.) stopped five Penmen shots on the night, while his counterpart, Joey Kapinos made four stops in earning the shutout.
Head coach Carl Christian's Queens side is back in action at home Thursday afternoon (Sept. 8), when it welcomes American International College to Flushing for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
