FLUSHING, N.Y. – Following a 45-minute lightning delay midway through the first half Thursday afternoon, the Queens College men's soccer team (3-5-1) played to a 1-1 draw with visiting Caldwell College (4-4-1).
Junior striker Peter Touros put the Knights in front with a 76th minute tally off an assist from his brother, senior keeper Demetrios Touros. Peter Touros was on the receiving end of a long distribution from his brother, out-raced his defender and beat the Cougars' goalie, Brian Agostini (six saves), from 15 yards away for his fifth goal of the season.
Caldwell utilized a set piece to knot the game at 1-all in the 84th minute, when Kristopher Bistre received a give-and-go pass on a short corner kick from Tim Centineo, and placed a low shot from 20 yards out past Demetrios Touros (six saves) through traffic.
Both teams had plentiful chances via headers in the two 10-minute extra-time sessions, with both Agostini and Demetrios Touros standing tall to keep the game deadlocked. QC had slight edges in shots (20-15) and corner kicks (7-6) on the afternoon.
