Men's Soccer Records Clean Sheet vs. UDC, 2-0

Box Score

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College men's soccer team (2-4) battled out a 2-0 win today in Flushing over the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds (3-1-1) on a chilly Sunday afternoon.

Six minutes into the first half, Knights' midfielder Dele Akinyode (Brooklyn, N.Y.) placed an unassisted ball, from the 6 yard box, over the goalkeeper to give QC an early lead. Later in the half, captain Danny Stoker (London, England) headed home a corner kick by Daniel Ospina (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) to increase the Knights lead to two. The scoring for both teams would end there.

The Firebirds made a switch during halftime and substituted sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Heatherington (2 saves) with freshman Alex Vert (1 save). Queens goaltender Demetrios Touros (Bellerose, N.Y.) made one stop in recording the Knights' first clean sheet of the season. QC outshot the Firebirds 11-6 on the day.

Coach Carl Christian and his Knights will next play Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 21), when they travel to Manchester, N.H., for a 4 p.m. contest at Saint Anselm College.
