Women's Soccer Topples Mercy, 3-0

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Three different players scored goals Monday afternoon, and the Queens College women's soccer team received a three-save effort from junior keeper Allison Breakey, as the Knights took down host Mercy College, 3-0, in an East Coast Conference match.

Queens (4-3, 2-1 ECC) opened the scoring in the ninth minute of action, as senior Andrea Slavin (Floral Park, N.Y.) converted a rebound off of her previous shot – providing all the offense the Knights would need on the afternoon.

As Mercy (2-8, 1-2) started to push numbers forward in the final 15 minutes of play, QC fired home another two goals to put the match out of reach. In the 76th minute, junior Brittany Silipo (Bay Shore, N.Y.) knocked home a loose ball to double the visitors' advantage.

Four minutes later, junior Lorena Russi (Rego Park, N.Y.) collected the ball in traffic and scored her fourth goal of the season.

Queens held a 14-11 shots advantage, and took the only two corner kicks of the match.

Head coach Carl Christian's Knights are back in action Wednesday afternoon, when they travel to Lakewood, N.J., for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference kickoff at Georgian Court University.
