E. STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Queens College men's soccer team remained unscored upon in its last 528:16, and undefeated in its last seven matches (4-0-3), as it tied host East Stroudsburg University, 0-0, Wednesday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
The Knights (6-5-3) were outshot by an 18-12 count by the host Warriors (4-6-2), but held a sizeable 8-1 spread in corner kicks in the 110-minute contest. Junior substitute Peter Touros (Bellerose, N.Y.) placed a header just high in the 81st minute for QC, while in the first overtime period, senior Kevin Vasquez (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) sent a low shot towards the far post that ESU keeper Sean Murphy (three saves) had to tip wide at the last moment.
Queens got solid play on the back line in front of junior keeper Nelson Restrepo (E. Elmhurst, N.Y.), who made six saves on the night, while junior Danny Stoker (London, England) cleared one ball off the line in the minute of the match.
Head coach Carl Christian's Knights are tied atop the East Coast Conference standings with a 3-0-1 record, and enter a crucial match Saturday afternoon (Oct. 15) at New York Institute of Technology – who tied conference co-leader and No. 3 C.W. Post by a 2-2 count Wednesday. Kickoff at Presidents Stadium is slated for 2:30 p.m.
