Slavin Named ECC Offensive Player of the Week; Sends Women's Soccer Past Felician in OT, 2-1

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Senior forward Andrea Slavin, fresh off earning Tuesday afternoon's East Coast Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award, netted a pair of goals – including the game winner just over a minute before the end of the first overtime – to lift Queens College (5-4-1) past visiting Felician College (7-4-1), 2-1.

Slavin (Floral Park, N.Y.) opened the scoring in the 59th minute of play, when she beat a Golden Falcons defender one-on-one and found the lower-left corner of the net to put the host Knights in front, 1-0.

Just before the second half ended, Felician found the equalizer to send the game to extra time. Emily Gleason beat her defender along the right flank, and sent a cross to the top of the six-yard box, where Sam Petosa scored her first goal of the season to knot the game at 1-all.

Queens held a sizeable 25-9 shots advantage on the afternoon, and was rewarded for their offensive efforts in the 99th minute of play. Junior Brittany Silipo (Bay Shore, N.Y.) sent a through ball down the middle of the field for Slavin, who took two dribbles with a defender on her right hip and beat Golden Falcons keeper Allie Couzo to send QC to the victory.

Junior keeper Allison Breakey (Frankfort, Ill.) made five saves in earning the victory for head coach Carl Christian's Knights, who are back on the road for a 4 p.m. non-conference game at Caldwell (N.J.) on Thursday (Oct. 13).
