Jose Aguije scored a spectacular goal to give QC the lead but
STAC scored three unanswered goals to win the game 3-1, in Flushing
on Saturday.
Dario Cabanas made three saves and the Knights were outshot 7-4
in an evenly played 0-0 first half. Four minutes and 47 seconds
into the second half the Knights broke out on top on a highlight
reel goal by senior forward Jose Aguiye. The native of Long Island
City, New York took possession at the top of the box with his
back to the net and put a scissor kick past Andrew Tartara for his
second goal of the season and a 1-0 QC lead.
It took STAC just 2:40 to tie the score on a goal by David
Cowpar. A long throw in from alongside the corner flag by Daniel
Davren found Cowpar in the box and he headed the ball home to make
it a 1-1 game.
The score stayed that way until Remington Lee gave STAC the lead
on a shot from the top of the box that found the net behind Cabanas
at the 80:00 mark. STAC picked up some insurance 3:19 later when
Sean Reily was stopped by Cabanas on his penalty kick attempt but
was the first player to the ball to put the rebound in to give his
club a 3-1 lead.
