Brittany Silipo's goal in the 88th minute was the difference in
the Knights 1-0 home victory over Georgian Court University. The
win is the third in a row for QC, who have now evened their record
at 4-4.
Georgian Court and QC went to the break deadlocked at 0-0
despite a huge territorial edge in the Knights favor. That
advantage translated into 14 shots for QC compared to one for GCU
but no goals for the home team.
The Knights continued to press the advantage in the second half
to no avail. Lorena Russi and Kirri Bolton each had glorious
chances to put QC on the board but each were turned aside by GCU
goalkeeper Shealyn Sullivan, who made 13 saves. Sullivan made a
spectacular save on Russi's arching attempt at 56:53, punching the
ball over the cross bar at the last second. Forty-five seconds
later, she turned away a deflected shot from in close off
of the foot of Bolton to keep the contest scoreless.
Sullivan was finally beaten by Silipo with 2:21 remaining in
regulation. After taking a pass from Bolton, Silipo took a right
footed shot from the top of the box that found its way inside the
right post for the difference maker.
