The Queens College Knights wrapped up their non-conference
schedule Tuesday, October 26th, taking on the visiting Clippers of
Concordia College. The Knights beat the Clippers 4-0 in commanding
fashion. The win makes it six straight for the Knights improving to
11-5 overall as the Clippers drop to 2-14.
The Knights came out in control of the game and never quit. Lorena Russi
opened up the scoring for the Knights at the 13:02 mark when she
blasted a shot from the left hand side of the 18 yard box that went
through goalie Nicole Carrol's hands and into the back of the
net. Brittany Silipo
added her first of two goals on a Janine Guerra
assist at the 24:15 mark, followed shortly after by her second
goal, a header that found the back of the net coming off a
deflection from the Clipper defense at the 28:42 mark. That would
cap off the scoring for the first half of the game, and
Queens, who outshot Concordia 9-0 headed into halftime with a 3-0
lead.
The second half was more of the same with the Knights in control
the whole half. The Knights outshot the Clippers 11-1 in the second
half and buried another goal at the 75:10 mark when Kristina
Ikonomou connected on a Brittany Silipo assist to conclude the
scoring for the Knights.
Next up for the Knights will be conference foes Dowling on
Thursday, October 28 and C.W. Post on Saturday, October
30. Both matches will be on the road.
