On the 2010 Queens College's women soccer Senior day, the
Knights defeated the visiting Bears of NYIT by the score of 4-0
this afternoon in East Coast Conference action. With the win the
Knights improve to 10-5 overall and 5-0 in the ECC, while the Bears

Queens College opened the game strong by scoring the opening
goal roughly five minutes into the match. The Knights took
advantage of a NYIT foul inside the box. Senior Kirri Bolton buried
the penalty kick in the lower right 90 of the goal. This gave the
Knights a 1-0 advantage. With 20:30 left in the half, the Knight's
Katherine
Colon's corner kick led to a header by Laura D'Amore, which
just missed wide. 47 seconds left in the half the Knights increase
their advantage to 2-0 when Lorena Russi scored
from a Janine
Guerra feed.
The tone of the second half was much like the first half, with
the Knights in complete control. Queens College's lead continued to
grow in the second half. At the 35:28 minute mark, the Knights
D'Amore scored from a good pass by Brittnay Silipo. The Knights
would tack on one more goal with two minutes left in the game when
Melissa
Cuartas scored from a Christina Porco
feed.
The Knights were in complete control of the match leading the
Bears in shots 12-to-6, shots on goal 5-to-3, and corner kicks
9-to-1. Goalkeeper Allison Breakey
earned her fifth shutout of the reason. With the win the Knights
