The first half of action was tightly contested between the
Knights and the Bears. The Knights had the first scoring chance in
the game when Mitri Abdul-Karim's shot feel into the hand of NYIT's
goalkeeper Mike Doran, at the 41:55 mark. Three minutes later, the
Knights Dele Akinyode kicked a screaming shot straight at the Bears
goalkeeper. NYIT had scoring chances of their own in the second
portion of the half. NYIT senior Maciek Serafin had three great
chances to put the visitors on the board but Queens College's
goalkeeper Demitrios Tourous was able to stop him all three
times.
Just like the first half, the second half was tightly contested
with both teams. However, the Knights were able to score the game's
first goal at the 24:21 mark. Santiago Bedoya
scored from a throw in by Kevin Velasquez to give the Knights
a 1-0 advantage. Six minutes later Serafin had an opportunity to
even the score, but his just grazed the left post. This would be
the last scoring chance for the Bears and the Knights would win by
the score 1-0.
