Women Place Third as Knights Compete at York College Invitational

BRONX, N.Y. – Four members of the Queens College women's cross country team finished in the top 20, as the Knights' men and women competed at the York College Cross Country Invitational on Sunday.

The women's team finished third overall, while the men's squad came in eighth.

Sophomore Nakeema Neunie led the way with an eight-place finish out of 97 finishers, running the 6K course in 26:51.26. Right behind Neunie was senior Diana Cruz in ninth with a finishing time of 27:03.62. Freshman Crystal Jia finished in 11th with a mark of 27:20.92, while junior Alyssa Meltzer ran the course in 28:07.00 to place 16th.

On the men's side, senior Luis Campos Castro led the Knights with a time of 33:25.18 to finish 30th among 127 runners on the 8K course. Fellow senior Jacob Lascano wasn't far behind, placing 36th with a time of 34:03.86. Meanwhile, newcomer Dawsen Durant also cracked the top 50 with a finishing time of 34:35.96.

The Knights will return to action next Saturday, Oct. 14, when they partake in the 18th Annual St. Joseph's College Invitational.
