FLUSHING, N.Y. (Sept. 30, 2018) - The Queens College volleyball team ran into a buzz-saw on Sunday (Sept. 30) as the unbeaten Daemen College Wildcats remained that way following a three-set sweep of the Knights at Fitzgerald Gymnasium. Set scores favored the visitors 25-11, 25-12 and 25-11.
Dee-Ana Mitchell and Lauren Kehoe led QC (1-13, 0-5 ECC) with four kills apiece as Mitchell added eight digs to her total on the afternoon. Vanessa Juengerkes was a dig shy of a double-double with 11 assists and nine digs in total while Leeks Hollis and Briana Green each collected three kills. Gina Giacalone added five digs as the Knights' libero, pushing her season total to a team-best 105 digs through 14 matches.
Daemen (11-8, 5-0 ECC) pounded home 41 kills on a .373 hitting percentage in the match as Meghan Ballou led her side with 11 kills. Sam Logan came off the bench in the second set and finished up her match with nine kills while Tirzah Peters and Christina Apostol added five kills apiece. Allison Post colllected seven kills while Ali Greenwood compiled 14 digs and four of the Wildcats' 12 service aces. Isa McCaffrey dished out 30 assists in the win, as well.
Queens will travel to LIU Post and host NYIT this weekend but the Knights will first venture to Garden City for a non-conference affair with the Panthers of Adelphi University. First serve from the Center for Recreation and Sport is set for 7 p.m.
