WEST HAVEN, CONN. - The Queens College volleyball continued early season action with two games hosted by New Haven. In the opener of the day, the Knights fell in four sets to Post, before dropping a three set matchup with the host Chargers.
Set scores in the opener were 26-24, 20-25, 25-20 and 25-21. In a back and forth opening set, the Knights fought back from five set points to even the match at 24. The Eagles with the final two points to claim the first set.
In the second set, with the score even at 18, the Knights closed the set on a 7-2 run. In the third set, the Eagles never trailed and closed the set on an 8-3 surge. Similar to the third, Post never trailed in the fourth and took the deciding set by four.
Sarah Ryder led Post with 22 digs in the contests, while Brianna Root had 48 assists. Skylar German led three players in double figures with 19 kills.
Against New Haven, the Knights held an early 3-1 lead in the opening set. The Chargers swung the momentum with six straight points to take a 7-3 lead. From there, New Haven secured the six point victory.
In set two, with the score tied at 11, the Chargers ended the set on a 14-3 surge. In the final set, New Haven put the match away with an 18-11 run with the game tied at seven.
Moore recorded a game high 23 assists. Freshman Lauren Kehoe led the Knights with 10 kills and tallied eight digs. Anthony led the team with 16 digs on the night.
Kristine Rios had 12 kills for New Haven, while Brianna Mirmina had 18 digs. Meghan Kennelly had 11 kills and 11 digs.
UP NEXT: The Knights return to Fitzgerald Gymnasium on Tuesday, Sept. 13th to face the visiting Cougars of Caldwell University with first serve set for 7:30 PM.
