Women's 4x100 Relay Takes First to Lead Track & Field at Ramapo Invitational

MAHWAH, N.J. – Led by a first place finish in the women's 4x100-meter relay, the Queens College track & field team opened its outdoor season at the Ramapo College Invitational on Saturday. The women's team had a strong showing, placing 10th overall with 31 points.

Damira Banks, Ronsheica Trotman, Terrilyn Britton and Diana Cruz came away victorious in the 4x100 with a winning time of 50.03.

Trotman had an impressive spring opener, adding a pair of third place finishes in the 200- and 400-meter runs. She finished the 200 meters with a time of 26.84, while running the 400 meters in 1:01.57.

Olivia Smithwick placed third in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 37.52 meters, while Renee Lustin added an eighth place finish with a mark of 31.35 meters in the event. Terrilyn Britton added a 12th place showing in the 100-meter dash, running in 13:23.

Banks ran the second fastest time in the 100-meter hurdle preliminaries at 15.70. She also teamed with Trotman, Cruz and Nakeema Neunie for a seventh place finish at 4:19.83 in the 4x400-meter relay.

For the men, Jared Coupe led the way with a 10th place finish with a toss of 35.68 meters in the men's hammer throw, while Yitzchack Rayman finished in 16th place. Romaine Ewan tallied a mark of 5.65 meters in the men's long jump to finish in 16th place as well.

The Knights return to action next Saturday, April 8, at the TCNJ Invitational.
