Women's Tennis Signs Local Product Gabriela Sciarrotta from Hewlett

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Dec. 4, 2018) - Queens College Women's Tennis Head Coach Alan Nagel proudly revealed the signing of Hewlett tennis star Gabriela Sciarrotta as part of National Signing Day last month, with the coach exalting the "first local signing and early signing in years."

Sciarrotta was part of a Nassau County Conference II-A championship team in 2017 and shepherded the Bulldogs as the squad competed in the more challenging Conference I in 2018. The senior captain went 19-1 on the season in bolstering Hewlett to its first-ever Nassau County championship appearance in October, where the team lost a gritty 4-3 battle to Syosset.

Sciarrotta went 55-6 in her four years of tennis with the Bulldogs and was renowed across the county for her fearsome forehand as well as a powerful, booming backhand. Rated an 8 on the Universal Tennis Rating system, the two-star recruit will be joining the Knights in the fall as the team continues to play strong tennis in 2019.
