Women's Tennis Strengthens Conference Lead with 7-0 Win over LIU Post Saturday

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Sept. 29, 2018) - The Queens College women's tennis team steam-rolled its way to a 7-0 victory over LIU Post on Saturday (Sept. 29) as the Knights remained undefeated on the season. 

Queens (4-0, 3-0 ECC) did not lose a set at all to the Pioneers, dispatching the green and gold first in doubles play with convincing wins at all three tandems. Luisa Auffarth and Reehan Rashad won a 6-3 match with Shanice Arthur and Veronika Koudelkova while the duos of Louisa Brunetti and Marisa Ostoja and Anica Knezevic and Line Sorsdahl Aasen both completed 6-0 sweeps to give Queens the point.

In singles play, Rashad claimed a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Arthur at the top-flight. Auffarth sent off Koudelkova by a 6-1, 6-0 result at second singles with Brunetti striking for a 6-0, 6-2 victory at third-singles on Charlotte Hynes. At fourth singles, Laura Ortega Jover won by an identical score over Christina Jud. Ruth Artaza Martin and Araceli Beli Aleixendri posted 6-0, 6-0 sweeps at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, to earn QC the clean sweep.

The Knights will host NYIT on Saturday (Oct. 6) in a big conference match-up but first, Queens hosts Wilmington University on Friday (Oct. 5) at 2 p.m.
