FLUSHING, N.Y. (Sept. 9, 2018) - The Queens College women's tennis team posted a strong performance on Sunday (Sept. 9), rolling to a 7-0 win over the Eagles of Post University at the Queens College Tennis Center to complete the first weekend of the season with a 2-0 mark to its ledger.

The Knights got things going in doubles play, where each tandem claimed a 6-1 win to obtain the full point for QC over their competition from the CACC. Reehan Rashad and Luisa Auffarth won at first-doubles while Marisa Ostoja and Louisa Brunetti earned the victory at the second tandem and Ruth Artaza Martin and Line Sorsdahl Aasen were the victors in third-doubles for the host Knights.

In singles play, Ostoja blitzed Dea Lako at third-singles to the tune of a 6-1, 6-1 win to put the Knights further ahead while identical 6-1, 6-0 wins from Brunetti at fourth and Auffarth at second-singles gave Queens the assured victory. Artaza Martin was next to finish at fifth-singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Juliana Seabra; Araceli Bel Aleixendri triumphed at sixth-singles over Sarah Namazi (6-2, 6-1) as well. The top flight of singles finished last and Rashad posted a gutsy and gritty 7-5, 6-3 victory over Andrea Sandoval to shut out the Eagles and post the 7-0 win.

Queens will now host the ITA East Regional Tournament from Friday (Sept. 14) through Monday (Sept. 17) with matches taking place at the USTA National Tennis Center in nearby Flushing Meadows.
