Women's Tennis Stays Unbeaten With Win At Molloy

WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The Queens College women's tennis team improved to 5-0 on the year, and 3-0 in East Coast Conference play, with a decisive 8-1 victory over Molloy Saturday afternoon.

The Knights started the match with three convincing victories in doubles.  The 1st doubles duo of Angelika Sobiecka and Emy Alplund topped Alyssa Migliorini 8-6.  In 2nd doubles, Laura Ortega Jover and Araceli Bel Aleixendri rolled to an 8-1 win over Megan Sclai and Danielle Bloecher, while Line Sorsdahl Aasen and Darya Kolesnichenko shut out Samantha Bloecher and Emily Rosen 8-0.

In singles, Kolesnichenko and Sorsdahl Aasen clinched the match with 6-0, 6-0 wins at 5th and 6th singles, respectively.  In 1st singles, Ortega Jover topped Migliorini 8-2.  In 2nd singles, Ruth Artaza Martin defeated Montaine Le Goupil- Maier 8-2.  In 4th singles, Alplund defeated Danielle Bloecher 8-0.

With their performances, Ortega Jover, Alplund, Sorsdahl Aasen and Bel Aleixendri remain undefeated in ECC singles and doubles play while Alplund, Aasen and Bel Aleixendri are undefeated in all seasonal conference and non-conference matches.

Next match for Queens is against LIU Post at 2:30pm at home on Tuesday afternoon.
