Arana Paces Swimming in Second Day of Ranger Invitational, Knights Finish Fifth Overall

MADISON, N.J. (Dec. 1, 2018) - Jennifer Arana-Perez finished in fifth place in the 100-yard backstroke to pace the Queens College women's swimming team on Saturday (Dec. 1) as the Knights concluded action at the Ranger Invitational in Madison, N.J. on the campus of Drew University. The Knights took home a fifth-place finish overall in the two-day meet.

Arana's time of 1:06.87 gave her the best finish for the Knights on the second day of competition in the pool in Madison. Iris Leung was in sixth place at the wall in the 100-back, finishing in a time of 1:14.23 while Megan Dawes finished in sixth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:31.03). The Knights also took fifth in the 400-free relay in the afternoon session, with the group of Gabriela Almeida, Chelsy Espinosa, Dawes and Arana clocking a time of 3:49.22.

The Knights will not swim again until the year 2019, as the team will face St. Francis College of Brooklyn in a dual meet on Jan. 20 beginning at 1 p.m. in Brooklyn Heights.
