Swimming Participates in Midnight Run, Provides Clothing for the Less Fortunate

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Nov. 29, 2018) - In the spirit of giving and spreading holiday cheer, the Queens College swimming and diving team took part in an annual tradition for the program known as the Midnight Run. The QC swimmers along with Head Coach Alicia Lampasso-Dillon teamed up with the college's Office of Judicial Affairs and Service Learning to donate men's clothing to the homeless of New York City on Nov. 13.

The team, along with the office's Associate Director Emanuel Avila, M.S.Ed., solicited donations from the Queens College community and had enough to fill five tupperware bins with toiletries and clothing of all different sizes. The squad then made several stops within Manhattan to drop off the items and made a final donation to a shelter in the Bowery.

QC swimmer Kelly Coronado commented that the Midnight Run was "a beautiful and eye-opening experience to be able to directly participate in a charitable act." Teammate Danielle Clarke echoed that sentiment, noting that the event helped demonstrate teamwork outside of the pool and that teamwork "makes the dream work."
