FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Queens College women's soccer team played East Coast Conference foe Daemen to a 1-1 draw Friday afternoon at QC Soccer Field. With the result, the Knights now sit at 2-6-1 overall, with a 1-1-1 mark in league play. The Wildcats are 3-3-2 overall with an identical 1-1-1 ECC record.
After a scoreless opening period, the Knights scored the game's first tally. In the 55th minute, following a Daemen foul, sophomore Adriana Mendrinos converted on a penalty kick for her first goal of the season.
Just over five minutes later, the Wildcats evened the contest when Monqiue Green converted a header to the right side, which bounced off the post and into the net.
Not only was the score even, but so were many of the numbers between the two squads. The Knights held a slight 18-16 advantage in shots, while Daemen had a 5-4 margin in corner kicks. Daemen goalkeeper Jackie Wescott made seven stops, while QC netminder Nicole Cranny had five stops.
