Ausili Nets Two Goals for Women's Lacrosse in 17-2 Defeat Against No. 7 LIU Post

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Apr. 18, 2018) - Patriece Ausili's two goals provided the offense for the Queens College women's lacrosse team as the Knights were defeated at home by a 17-2 margin versus seventh-ranked LIU Post in an East Coast Conference tilt on Wednesday (Apr. 18) at QC Lacrosse Field.

Queens (5-8, 1-4 ECC) fell behind early against LIU Post (11-3, 7-0 ECC) as the Pioneers' Alyssa Mallery scored in the first eleven seconds of play to kick-start the visitors' scoring barrage. After goals by Paige Sherlock and Jill LoManto put the Knights in a three-goal deficit, Ausili nabbed her 101st career goal with just under eight minutes having been played in the game off of a feed from Mary Pat Gibble. Queens, at that point, was down by a 3-1 deficit but the remainder of the half belonged to LIU Post as the Pioneers put home ten consecutive markers to close out the opening period of play up by a 13-1 score. Mallery and Sherlock each completed first-half hat tricks with a pair of goals in the run as LoManto nabbed her second while Brianna Feldman also scored two tallies. The second half was all Pioneers as well, with the visitors scoring four goals in the frame until Ausili's second marker with 2:48 left to play on another pass from Gibble.

Rebecca Gibble led the defensive effort with four ground balls; Sarah Koehler had a team-best two draw control wins and Jessica Serpe made four saves and scooped up three ground balls in the effort.

Queens will head up to Sparkill, N.Y. on Saturday (Apr. 21) to take on the Spartans of Saint Thomas Aquinas College at 12 p.m.
