Women's Lacrosse Shut Out in First Half of 19-2 Defeat at No. 14 Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (Apr. 6, 2018) - The Queens College women's lacrosse team was held scoreless for just over 36 minutes on Friday (Apr. 6) as the Knights fell to fourteenth-ranked Merrimack by a 19-2 margin at Merrimack Stadium.

Queens (4-5) did not get on the board until around six-and-a-quarter minutes into the second half when Sarah Koehler scored off of an assist by Nicole Moniello. The Warriors (8-3) held a 15-1 lead at the time of Koehler's tally, with the hosts up 13-0 at the halftime break. Rebecca Gibble netted a tally on a free-position and a woman-up opportunity with ten minutes remaining in the contest for the Knights' only other strike of the game.

Patriece Ausili won a team-best two draw controls while Lauren Gentile and Nicole Cutrone each scooped up two ground balls to lead the Knights on defense. Jessica Serpe made 13 saves in net for Queens.

The Knights will next face Bridgeport on Wednesday (Apr. 11) at 3:30 p.m. in an East Coast Conference battle in Flushing.
