Taylor Martello Gets Two Goals and Two Assists in a 12-6 Loss to Mercy

Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - Queens College junior attacker, Taylor Martello, scored game high four points, on two goals and two assists in the QC women's lacrosse team's 12-6 loss to Mercy in an East Coast Conference game played in Dobbs Ferry on Wednesday afternoon.  The Knights are now 0-4 overall and 0-2 in conference.

The Mavericks took the lead early, scoring the first six goals of the game.  Queens finally got on the board when Martello found Gabby Casanova for a goal with 7:34 remaining in the first half.  Mercy scored again, but Martello picked up her second assist when she connected with Kristen Korzevinski late in the first half.  QC trailed 7-2 at the break.

The Knights scored twice in the first five-and-half minutes of action in the second half as Casanova scored her second goal and Martello netted her first; both were unassisted.  Trailing just 7-4, with over 20 minutes remaining, Queens surrendered a goal to make it 8-4, Mavericks, but Alyssa McCormick drew QC within three, at 8-5, with an unassisted marker at 17:39. 

The Knights' final score of the game came when Casanova hooked up with Martello on a goal with 8:36 left in regulation.  That made the score, 9-6, Mercy.  The Mavericks went on to score three more and win, 12-6.

In the game, Casanova had two goals and one assist.  Kahli Evans had a game-high, four groundballs, while Kristilyn Reynolds picked up three.

The Queens College lacrosse team returns to action on Thursday, March 27, when they welcome the University of the District of Columbia to Flushing.  The opening draw is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
