Long Island City, N.Y. - The Queens College lacrosse team traded in their lacrosse clothes for other clothes, in a manner of speaking, as they spent Friday donating their time at the Housing Works warehouse in Long Island City. This local charity gives support to HIV+ people in the community.
Housing Works supports homeless New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS. Since its inception, it has assisted over 20000 people with substance abuse treatment, job training, legal counseling, and legislation lobbying for laws that help them. They also fun a thrift store as part of their fundraising campaign. This is where the Knights helped out.
The lacrosse team collected, sorted, inventoried and tagged donations they received for the store. The items were then sold and the proceeds given to the company.
The Queens College lacrosse team opensits 2014 schedule in the spring.
