FLUSHING, N.Y. – Queens College head women's basketball coach Elizabeth Naumovski has announced that Taylor Sparks-Faulkner of Newark, Del., will be transferring to Queens to play for the Knights.
Sparks-Faulkner spent the 2016-17 season at Division I Delaware State University. While with the Lady Hornets, she appeared in 26 games, averaging 7.8 minutes per game off the bench. She pulled down 31 rebounds in total for an average of 1.2 boards per contest during her freshman campaign.
"Finding the perfect school has been a long and hard journey for me," explained Sparks-Faulkner. "But the decision to pick Queens was easy. The team, the school, everything just felt like this is where I am supposed to be."
The 6-foot-2 center played at the Sanford School in high school, where she helped lead the Lady Warriors to the Delaware state championship as a sophomore. Sparks-Faulkner was named to the All-Independent Second Team that season, and she also picked up All-Independent honors at the Tatnall School as a freshman. She played three years of AAU with the Philly Triple Threat, ISAA and iExcel, helping iExcel win multiple tournament championships.
"Taylor fills a huge void for us in the low block," Naumovski stated. "She brings a strong, tough, physical presence to our team that is much needed. Off the court, she is an outstanding student who enters QC with a 3.8 GPA. Taylor is a wonderful person with high character who has a bright future both on and off the court. I'm very excited to have the honor of coaching her."
