FLUSHING, N.Y. – For the second consecutive week, senior Madison Rowland of the Queens College women's basketball team has been named player of the week by both the East Coast Conference (ECC) and Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) for her performance in the Knights' 84-66 win at Daemen on Wednesday.
It is Rowland's sixth straight ECC Player of the Week honor and ninth of the season. Meanwhile, it was her second Met weekly award in a row and fourth of the season.
Rowland led Queens to a dominating 84-66 road win at Daemen on Wednesday, as the Knights wrapped up the regular season. She totaled 23 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block in the victory, while the senior was 2-for-4 from three-point land. Rowland also tied the program's single season record for steals, as her tally reached 125 for the season.
Freshman Beth Bonin was recognized by the ECC as well, earning a spot on the weekly honor roll. Bonin scored 17 points in the win over Daemen on Wednesday. She was 6-of-13 from the field and 3-of-8 from three-point territory. Bonin chipped in four steals, two rebounds and two assists as well, as Queens rolled to its 16th straight win.
ECC Regular Season Champions and nationally ranked, the Knights earned the top seed and a first-round bye in the upcoming ECC Championship. Queens will face either fourth-seeded Roberts Wesleyan College or fifth-seeded NYIT in the semifinals at noon on Saturday, March 4.
