NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Queens College men's and women's track & field teams took part in the Artie O'Connor Invitational at the Armory Track & Field Center on Friday. The Knights had strong efforts in the field, while the women's sprinters put forth a valiant effort as well.
Olivia Smithwick and Renee Lustin led the way in the women's shot put and weight throw. Smithwick finished sixth among 20 competitors in the weight throw with a mark of 12.05 meters, while Lustin placed 12th at 10.72 meters. Lustin also placed 13th with a toss of 8.87 meters in the shot put, while Smithwick was 18th at 8.34 meters.
Damira Banks finished third in the 60-meter hurdle finals with a time of 9.10. She also ran 12th in the 60-meter dash preliminaries at 8.03. Ronsheica Trotman placed 13th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.22, while she also finished 18th in the 200-meter dash at 26.69. Nakeema Neunie also posted a 2:36.96 time in the 800 meters to place 15th.
Yitzchak Rayman and Jared Coupe finished sixth and seventh in the men's weight throw for Queens out of 24 entrants. Rayman posted a throw of 12.19 meters, while Coupe registered a throw of 12.10 meters. Coupe also placed 10th in the shot put with a mark of 11.15 meters, while Rayman placed 16th with a toss of 10.71 meters.
Skandal Delince posted a 14th place finish in the men's long jump with a mark of 5.92 meters and was 17th in the triple jump with a jump of 11.88 meters. Jacob Lascano also ran 4:46.64 in the mile run to finish 21st among 53 finishers.
Next up for the Knights will be the East Coast Conference Championships on Friday, Feb. 24.
