Queens, N.Y. - While Thursday, June 20, was close to the last day of public school for most students, it just so happened to be the final installment of the Queens College and P.S. 499 Youth Afterschool Tennis Program for the season.
For ten-weeks, students aged 7 to 12 received a series of introductory group tennis lessons from 3 pm - 4 pm on scheduled Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Queens College Tennis Center
The main goal of the afterschool program was to engage students from the second through sixth grades about considering the sport of tennis as a lifetime endeavor. Each student received a “Certificate of Completion” for participating in the program.
Head men’s tennis coach, Wayne Martin commented on the program, “On behalf of Queens College tennis, we are grateful to the administrators, parents and students of P.S.499 for their dedication towards the program's success. We look forward to a continued partnership with P.S. 499 in providing a pathway tennis program for their students in the fall."
