Gousse Nets Two In Men's Soccer 4-2 Victory

ROCKVILLE CENTER, N.Y. - On Sunday afternoon, the Queens College men's soccer team picked up a 4-2 victory over the Lions of Molloy College (11-4 overall, 7-2 ECC) in conference play.

Freshman Emgi Gousse gave the Knights an early lead after he successful chipped a cross from junior Nikolas Touros in the 33rd minute to beat goalie Raul Bonilla. Several minutes later, Molloy tied the match as Mosiah Whyte went past his defenders to score through the right side of the goal. The Lions held a 9-5 shot advantage in the second half.

Senior Nikolas Maher gave the Knights a 2-1 lead in the 53rd minute as he successful tapped in the rebound shot through the right side. In the 66th minute, the Knights were given a penalty kick after a foul in the box. Breuer stepped up to beat the diving Bonilla to the right side for his team leading seventh goal of the season as QC took a 3-1 lead.

Kyle Brennan pulled back a goal for Molloy with a successful header off a cross in the 73rd minute. Hoping to avoid another breakdown, the Knights stepped up as Molloy outshot QC 6-2 in the final 15 minutes of play. Gousse put away the match with his second brace of the season as he found Bonilla out of position to hand the Knights a 4-2 victory.

Senior goalie James Brostowski closed his Knights career with a win while stoppisng five shot on goal, while Bonilla allowed four goals and saved two. Queens was outshot 21-11 and behind 8-3 in corner kicks.

Under sixth season head coach Carl Christian, the Knights missed out on postseason play as the Knights finished 6-7-4 overall and 3-4-2 in East Coast Conference play.
