FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Queens College men's soccer team faltered in the closing minutes of regulation, as Georgian Court tallied a late goal to grab a 1-0 win over the Knights Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Knights moved to 4-5-3 on the season, while the Lions improved to 7-5-1.
Senior Nikolas Maher nearly gave the Knights an early lead as his free kick attempt was denied by the post in the opening minutes of the game. Sophomore Jonathan Jaramillo's shot in the 10th minute sailed just wide as the Knights went on an early offensive push. In the 40th minute, senior Nicholas Matusewicz's was saved by goalie Sebastian Mikuska as the game headed to half scoreless.
With neither team willing to give up, a corner kick by the Lions led them to the win. In the 87th minute, Joe Esposito's corner found Sean Graham for a header to lift the Lions past the Knights. The Knights were outshot 13-10 while holding the advantage in corner kicks (10-5).
