Title: Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Assistant Basketball Coach Duane Woodward joined Queens College in July of 2013.  This will be his first season with the men's basketball team.

Woodward comes to Queens College following a 13-year professional playing career overseas. Throughout his career, he played in over 10 different countries and saw success for numerous teams; most notably during his tenure in the Cyprus League for AEL Limassol. Woodward helped lead AEL to back-to-back championships in 2003 and 2004 and was named Eurobasket.com All-Cyprus League Player of the Year, All-Cyprus League First Team, as well as the 2004 Eurobasket.com All-FIBA EuropeLeague Player of the Year.  Woodward was also named to the 2008 Eurobasket.com Cyprus League All-Imports Team. Additionally, Woodward was a two-time All Star during his tenure in Europe.

Since returning  to the United States, he found a career in coaching, landing his first assistant coach position at nearby, Maritime College, in the Bronx. As a part of the coaching staff at Maritime, Woodward was instrumental in helping the team triple their win percentage from the previous season. Woodward's main responsibilities for the Privateers included recruiting, player development, practice planning, and scouting of opponents.
He has served as the 16U and seniors/prep coach for the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team, the New York Panthers, since 2008; under the direction of well-known, grass roots director Gary Charles; who he played for while in High School. Woodward has also been a coach & instructor at numerous camps, including Hoop Group Elite Camp, Five Star Elite Camp, the University of Pennsylvania Basketball Camp and the Fairfield University Basketball Camp.
 

The Queens native  earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing from Boston College in 1998, where he was also a four year starter at point guard for the Eagles’ basketball team in the Big East Conference.  He currently resides in New York City.
